Peru’s vibrant metropolitan capital was founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro and has been declared a World Cultural Heritage site for its extensive Spanish colonial architecture. Lima is a known as the gastronomic capital of Peru, boasting a plethora of excellent restaurants, but it is also a modern metropolis with exquisite five-star hotels, shopping, excellent architecture, archaeology and culture.

Ranging from pre-Hispanic temples such as Pachacamac, the one-time destination for oracles and religious pilgrimages, to the Cathedral and the Convent of San Francisco, Lima offers the visitor a wealth of archeological sites and fine architecture. Miraflores, the upscale commercial district, is not to be missed for its great shopping, restaurants, hotels and nightspots. San Isidro is known for its residential areas, parks and also as a modern business and financial district. The Bohemian district of Barranco is home to artists, musicians and exciting nightlife with live entertainment.
